If you're looking for ideas for the school holidays here is a rundown on the films Event Cinemas expect to be big this holiday season: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: C.S. Lewis' third book in his series of seven novels for children, The Chronicles of Narnia. Lucy and Edmund are spending a boring holiday with their cousin Eustace Clarence Stubb, a dull and mean little boy. When a painting of a ship on the wall of Lucy's wall comes to life, the three children are drawn into Narnia and dumped into the ocean to be rescued by the Dawn Treader. On board is none other than King (formerly Prince) Caspian. The kids join Caspian on his search for the seven lost Lords of Narnia to fulfil a promise to Aslan. Megamind: After super-villain Megamind kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man, he becomes bored since there is no one left to fight. He creates a new foe, Titan, who, instead of using his powers for good, sets out to destroy the world, positioning Megamind to save the day. Gulliver's Travels: A family adventure-comedy based on the 18th Century novel by Jonathan Swift. In this contemporary take, Jack Black is travel writer Lemuel Gulliver who takes an assignment in Bermuda but ends up on the island of Lipiput where he towers over its miniature citizens. Tangled: A telling of the fairy tale Rapunzel. When the kingdom's most wanted, and most charming, bandit Flynn Rider is taken hostage by Rapunzel -- a feisty teen with 20 metres of golden hair who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years -- the unlikely duo sets off on an escapade filled with adventure, heart, humour and hair, lots of hair'. Yogi Bear: A live action film featuring computer- animated wildlife, Yogi is voiced by Dan Ackroyd and his sidekick Boo Boo is Justin Timberlake. When a corrupt mayor announces he'll turn failing Jellystone Park into a logging facility, Yogi and Boo Boo team with Ranger Smith and a wildlife docu- mentarian to save their home. Award winners: Henderson South School held an assembly last week and gave out awards to year 6 students. From left: Seraphina Gillette -- excellence in attitude award, Neli Auvae -- sports boy award, Abraham Opetaia Tui -- excellence in math award, Shikani Schuster -- literary award, Valerie Lui -- academic excellence award, Veronica Semau -- sports girl, Tha Iang Ko Thang -- most caring child, Tashina Pireroa Henare -- Maori leader of the future award. Skate time: Sk8 M8s West is a roller skating group for people with special needs, which meets once a week at Avondale High School's gymnasium. The group put on an end-of-year Christmas Cameo concert last month. Coach Gillian Taylor says they had been practising their routines since the beginning of the year. As part of the event the group decorated its Christmas tree while on skates. Pictured is group member Stephen, skating across to the tree with a present. Welcome to our Milestones feature.
