Tilak got a high distinction in both mathematics and English which means he was in the top 1 percent of year 4 candidates who sat the exams in New Zealand. He also got a distinction certificate and a credit certificate in science which put him in the top 10 and 20 percent respectively of year 4 pupils in the country.
