Graeme Berryman returned from holiday earlier this month to an unpleasant surprise. Someone had crashed their car into the concrete wall out- side his business, Berryman Real Estate on Great North Rd in New Lynn, during the Christmas break. Left behind was a pile of ruin including car parts, broken signs and crumbled concrete. The driver did not leave a phone number. The impact when the car hit at 10.45pm on December 31 caused the server to shut off and cut power to the building. Mr Berryman estimates the cost of repairing the wall to be about $4000. I m annoyed. I would have thought they could leave a card, he says. I wouldn t have thought they would be able to drive the car away. Parts left at the scene indi- cate the vehicle is a silver Nissan. New Lynn police station watch house manager Warren Strand would like to speak to anyone with information about the accident. Call 826-2454. Store marks move with fashion show The Waitakere Salvation Army is holding a Pacific fashion show tomorrow night to celebrate its move to a new location. The store will move from 17 Railside Ave to 3A Trading Place in Henderson, opening on Saturday at 9am. Store manager Mark Simiona wants to make sure that people drop- ping donations go to the right premises. The Pacific fashion show, called Vaka, is on tomorrow from 7pm at the old Railway Ave site and will feature live music and food. Entry is $2 per person or $5 for a family of three to five people. Entry for a family of six or more is $8. Mr Simiona will also be looking for long-term volunteers to assist the Salvation Army with sorting goods for the store, working on the till and driving. Call 837-2004 for more information.
