The Falls - more than a building The Falls Restaurant: Dining experience second to none. Set in one of the oldest buildings in Auckland, The Falls has an impressive lineage. It began in 1873 as McLeods Hotel, renamed the Oratia Hotel some years later, and moved to its current location in 1996 – where it was lov- ingly restored by the Falls Preservation Trust. Considering how impressive and large the building is, The Falls itself is easy to miss, but upon entering the his- toric ‘Red Door’ you get a real sense of something special. You begin to realise you’re in for a real treat and experi- ence. Like the Tardis, it has a number of areas and rooms that at first glance are not noticed. It boasts a fantastic new conserva- tory overlooking The Falls park and rotunda, aptly named by staff ‘The Oasis’. Enjoy the living gal- lery where feature artists display their exhi- bition in the new con- servatory. Also enjoy the Jazz Fridays from 4.30 to 6.30pm, where featured singer-songwriter Char- lotte Johansen creates an acoustic pop ambience – while customers either enjoy a nibble with a wine, or stay on for an a-la-carte meal. The Falls has a repu- tation second to none, winning ‘Best Res- taurant’ award three years consecutively. Now, with a fresh new chef and new menu con- tinually establishing strong ties with their local suppliers, The Falls looks all set to see in the New Year winning awards for 2011. Services provided include the fully licensed bar; a homage to coffee making with expert bari- stas; breakfast, brunch, lunch, fine dining, casual dining, functions and events – plus a private boardroom with all the trimmings. ❚ The Falls Restaurant is located on the corner of Alderman and Edmonton Roads, Henderson. Open seven days for brunch, lunch and from Wednesday to Saturday for dinner. Be their guest – p hone 835-0070 for bookings or information. www.thefalls.co .nz.
