The school has won $3000 to spend on new books and stationery. By CATHERINE HEALY The library at Arahoe School is about to get an injection of new books thanks to its proactive librarian Suli Patel. My husband saw a compe- tition mentioned in the Western Leader for schools to win money to spend on books and so I applied. The entry had to be just 25 words. We had fun coming up with it. The school was one of four winners and was presented with $3000 to spend on books and stationery yesterday. Mrs Patel has worked at the New Lynn Primary School for 12 years. She says the school works hard to save money on resources and often buys second-hand books from book fairs. It will be good to have money to spend throughout the year, so that classes can get up-to- date materials when they need it for projects. This will be really useful. As part of the prize the school also receives $1000 worth of radio advertising for a future fundraising event. Plunket pleased Plunket says the Advertising Standards Authority decision to uphold a complaint against a television advertisement that showed a baby lying face down is a great step towards putting the safety of our infants first.
