If you are having trouble coping with day to day life and don t know where to turn, give Women s Centre Waita- kere a call today. The centre offers numerous services to women in trouble includ- ing low cost, supportive counselling with female practitioners. This is held on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings by appoint- ment only -- with up to six subsidised sessions available, although a $10 donation is appreciated to assist with expenses. There is also a drop in and telephone support service, where women can receive support from the team, who will empathetically support, listen and provide assist- ance which will support the persons needs. Other services running this term are The Journey of the Butterfly , a family violence support group focussing on understanding family violence, the cycle of abuse and what makes a relationship healthy or unhealthy. It will pro- vide you with tools to understand the impact of family violence on chil- dren and how to set boundaries. Held on Fridays 12.30pm till 2.30pm from Feburary 11 till April 15. Women who want to learn more about them- selves can join the Beyond the Chrysalis group running from February till April on Mondays focusing on Personality Type, or Wednesdays to learn about Family and Com- munity, focussing on cre- ating healthier families. These classes are held for 10 weeks from 10am till 12 noon. If you are worried about your level of anger attend the women s anger management course, which costs just $20 for six weeks. Starting in March this service is available in two groups, on Mondays 5.30pm till 7.30pm starting March 7 or Thursdays 10am till 12 noon starting 10th . Free creche is avail- able for selected courses/ groups. Courses which run throughout the year include a lesbian dis- cussion group, held 7pm till 9pm on the third Thursday of every month, a friendship group during the school term on Wednesdays 12.30pm till 2.30pm and a post-natal distress sup- port group held on Tuesdays 9.45am till 12 noon. Other services avail- able by appointment only include massages by a female practitioner on Monday mornings at a cost of $20 to $40 per hour and free WINZ advice and information on Tuesday mornings every fortnight.
