Early childhood edu- cation is a challenging and rewarding career that allows you to help New Zealand children to learn and develop during the fundamental early years of their lives. If you're looking for somewhere to start your career in the industry, New Zealand Career Col- lege (NZCC) offers cer- tificate and diploma courses to help you on your journey. NZCC offers a unique Pasifika focus that allows students to gain skills, knowledge and values that enable them to work confidently with children and families across New Zealand's diverse range of cultures. Crucially, the progr- ammes include prac- ticum placements, where students spend time working and learning in an early childhood cen- tre. This practical hands- on experience is inval- uable in ensuring students can successfully transfer their learning to the workplace. Many NZCC students are offered part time work after successfully completing their prac- ticum, giving them a head start in the indus- try before they have even graduated. Other students go on to further study at higher levels, such as NZCC graduate Rose Frost. After completing her Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika) (Level 5) at NZCC, Rose went on to complete her Diploma in Teaching (ECE) Pasifika through AUT. Rose has not only become a registered teacher but is a centre director for a large childcare centre. Rose says, I truly believe my studies at NZCC have helped me to beintheroleIamin today. The tutor I had was so passionate about ensuring the quality of the early childhood edu- cation sector that it rubbed off on me. I could not imagine being in any other career field.'' All courses are NZQA registered and accredited and the college is approved by the New Zealand Tertiary Edu- cation Commission for government student loans and allowances. NZCC has campuses in Manukau, Auckland Central, Waitakere and North Shore and inter- national students are welcome. NZCC is taking inter- views and enrolments for its 2011 programmes -- for information, freephone 0800 88 6922, email email@example.com or visit www.nzcc.ac.nz.
