When looking at childcare options for 2011, are you concerned about your child s care and nurturing ... or the opportunities they have to learn and grow? When you choose Apples Childcare & Learning Cen- tre in Henderson, your child will receive expert care and education in equal measure! Apples is a purpose-built centre designed by experts in the early childcare profession, and staffed by qualified, experienced staff. With off-street parking, a full catering kitchen, nursery, age- appropriate rooms and outdoor play areas, Apples provides a specialist learning environment for all ages -- babies under two, toddlers aged two to three-and-a- half, and preschoolers. There are two rooms each for babies and toddlers, so they can be given the care that s appropri- ate for their age and development. The pre-schoolers have a large work/play room and outdoor area with trees and garden. Another classroom will be ready this month to support the older children s transition programme. Apples staff/child ratios exceed the government recommendations in all age groups. Founder and co- owner Sarah Studd says this indi- vidual attention is reflected in the happy, secure atmosphere and in the progress the children make -- recorded and updated in the children s individual portfolios. The camaraderie of the centre and families was very much in evidence at December s Christmas party, with a visit from Santa. Apples has completed its Healthy Heart assessment and looks forward to receiving the Healthy Heart Award as the cen- tre celebrates two years of happy existence in central Henderson. For enrolment enquiries pop in anytime to Apples Childcare & Learning Centre, 220 Swanson Rd, Henderson, phone 09-837-2881. Also at 3 Poplar Rd, Stanmore Bay, phone 09-424-6003. At Kids World Early Care and Learning it s all hands on deck to make learning an adven- ture! Family owned and operated by John and daughters Kate and Anna, who are passion- ate about children, the purpose-built centre in Avondale caters for babies to preschoolers in three dedicated areas with small groups and high teacher ratios. It is testament to the well-run centre that staff turnover is low, which in turn provides a consist- ent environment for chil- dren. Primary care giving for under two year olds means your baby has one-on-one attention and care to help them settle faster. Kids World plan learn- ing activities to cater to children s interests. Spring prompted a flurry of activity in the garden with children growing beans from seeds. The now established seedlings will be nurtured, the produce eaten and eventually the plants taken home. Preschoolers in the centre have an eye on travel and with the help of their friend Gulliver teddy bear s stories they have travelled to West- ern Australia and back. Gulliver s friend aka Gulliver also has come to visit Kids World, bring- ing stories from his home and is creating new stories spending time in all the children s home. Through this dramatic play, children are learn- ing to be responsible and care for others. It also builds communication and relationships with children, parents and teachers. Parents appreciate the healthy meals which are a feature at Kids World, all home made, cooked on site and including lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Read more about the most recent glowing Education Review Office report online at www.ero.govt.nz. Vacancies exist for all age groups and 20 hours free care applies for three and four year olds. Give the staff at Kids World a call to find out more. They are located on 2 Sandy Lane, Avondale. Phone 820-3933.
