12 WESTERN LEADER, DECEMBER 14, 2010 NEWS Improving your rail network Improving your rail network KiwiRail and its contractors will be hard at work over the summer holiday period improving your rail network and preparing it for electrification. We will be particularly busy in the CBD, Mt Albert and Meadowbank; and Papatoetoe, Manurewa and Papakura where there will be several roads closed. We understand the work will cause some disruption - it is our intention to get the work done and return the community to normal as quickly as possible. We will be working from Boxing Day until 16 January. Buses will replace trains for much of this time. Regatta weekend: New Lynn Sea Scouts travelled to Lake Rotoma for the Bay of Plenty regatta recently. They came away with wins in rowing, sailing, kayaking and the Ironman event. Anyone interested in joining can call Andrew on 827-2569. Carousel maker: Sue Shopland of Te Atatu Peninsula created this carousel as part of her MIT baking and pastry training course. College talent: Brandee Thorburn received Waitakere College's Te Taumata Toi (Arts) award this year at senior prizegiving. Welcome to our Milestones feature.
