Young guns vie to be the Milkybar Kid By NICOLA MURPHY Determined: Eloise Greenwood lives in Oratia and wants to be the next Milkybar Kid. Performer: Whenuapai resident Madison Hunter is excited to be one of the Milkybar Kid finalists. Two aspiring young perform- ers have the chance to front one of New Zealand's most famous television advertise- ments. Madison Hunter and Eloise Greenwood are two out of the 10 finalists in the competition to become the next Milkybar Kid. Madison is eight years old and lives in Whenuapai. Her mother Sarah Byers says she is excited about the possibility of becoming the next Milkybar Kid. She says girls can do any- thing boys can do and thinks it's time the role went to a girl,'' Miss Byers says. She describes Madison as a bubbly, outgoing'' girl who loves singing, dancing and cheerleading. She's just really excited to have the opportunity.'' The other finalist is nine- year-old Eloise Greenwood from Oratia. She loves drama, reading and art and wants to be a professional horserider some day. Her mother Vanessa Greenwood says Eloise's god- mother heard about the com- petition and thought Eloise would be perfect for the role. She was absolutely ec- static when she found out she was a finalist,'' Mrs Green- wood says. She wanted to get on the phone to everybody straight away.'' She says her daughter wants to win because she loves acting and Milkybars. Milkybar spokesman Jere- my Boucher says they had a terrific response to the search and it was difficult to narrow it down to the top 10. We always knew there would only ever be one Milky- bar Kid but we never expected to see so many potential stars.'' People can vote online for their favourite Milkybar kid and voting closes at the end of today. The winner will be selected through a combination of the audience's vote and the decisions made by a panel of judges. The outcome will be announced on November 19. The chosen star will be the Milkybar Kid in a television commercial in 2011. To view their audition videos or to vote for Madison or Eloise go to www.milkybarkid.co.nz.
